Futures Group managed Sexual HIV Prevention Program (SHIPP) in South Africa is a flagship bilateral project of USAID that aims to measurably boost HIV prevention by building the leadership capacity of the Department of Health, Department of Basic Education, Department of Social Development and the South African National AIDS Council to fulfill constitutionally mandated planning, coordination, and implementation responsibilities through the provision of technical assistance.

Reporting to the Senior Technical Director, the Knowledge Manager is responsible to champion organization-wide knowledge sharing, so that the organization's know-how, information and experience is shared inside and (as appropriate) outside the organization with clients, partners, and stakeholders. The Knowledge Manager will develop and execute the application of policies, processes and technologies to ensure that information is systematically produced, organized and made accessible to the people who need it.

In this role, you will be responsible for:


  •     Knowledge Management;
  •     External Relations;
  •     Capacity Building;
  •     Database Design and Development.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  •     University degree in communications, ICT, business or public administration, development or related fields;
  •     Minimum of 4 years’ experience in knowledge management and communication with proven experience of successful implementation of internal and external communications activities in donor funded projects;
  •     Excellent knowledge of knowledge management and communication principles, current theories and practices including sourcing and managing information online;
  •     Experience in capacity building, training and/or identifying needs to improve capacity;
  •     Experience working with USAID projects (desirable);
  •     Track record of success in database design and technology, and/or organizational alignment and strategy;
  •     Experience with Google sites and Google Docs and working knowledge of advanced Excel/Google doc formulas.
