The Small Enterprise Foundation (SEF) is a not for profit, pro-poor MFI. It works towards the eradication of poverty by creating a supportive environment where credit and savings services foster sustainable income generation, job creation, and social empowerment.

About the Job:

SEF is looking for Interns to join its international internship program. S/he will assist in a variety of projects across the operations, research & development, and quality assurance departments. This internship is for a year.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  •     Increasing operational efficiency;
  •     Monitoring and evaluating SEF's credit programs;
  •     Social performance management;
  •     Mainstreaming internal audit processes;
  •     Supporting SEF managers with ad hoc requests;
  •     Tracking and analyzing client data in Microsoft Excel;
  •     Developing client-facing tools;
  •     Building and delivering presentations for senior staff.

Qualifications:

  •     Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences or Quantitative field at minimum, advanced degree or comparable work experience preferred;
  •     Experience working with large data sets, and advanced skills in Excel and Microsoft Office;
  •     Strong communication skills, fluency in English is required;
  •     A deep understanding of the microfinance sector, and willingness to learn;
  •     Ability to work independently and critically on a multiple projects;
  •     Exposure to international development in the African context a plus.
