As the Microfinance Partnerships Specialist (Housing Microfinance) for the Housing Finance & Market
Development Team with the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Area Office, you will serve as the subject matter expert for Africa with a focus on the National Organizations (NOs) and Branches throughout the continent. You will have the exciting opportunity to utilize your strong knowledge of microfinance to partner with financial service organizations or similar networks to promote and further advance the Housing Finance & Market Development strategy and overall program in Africa.

You are someone who enjoys research and have solid experience facilitating training. You enjoy working in a multi-cultural environment and enjoy travel (because you may travel up to 40% throughout Africa.) As the Microfinance Partnerships Specialist (Housing Microfinance) you will be based at our regional office, located in Pretoria, South Africa and report to our Senior Market Development and Investment Manager. You will be responsible for facilitating vibrant market approaches, with a focus on existing local market actors and institutions by focusing on the following 3 key areas:

    INSTITUTIONAL TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE - Address the lack of know-how among market actors on how to serve low-income people with products, services, and/or financing

    MOBILIZATION OF CAPITAL-

Mobilize capital suitable to encourage leaps forward in innovation and scale of market actors serving the poor with their products, services, and/or financing

    HOUSING SUPPORT SERVICES - Through market partners, provide non-financial market-based solutions/services for low-income housing to support households to pursue their housing goals (meet housing quality standards)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    5+ years’ experience in Microfinance, Housing Finance, Research or Development

    3+ years’ experience in management role

    Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis techniques

    Proven experience conducting market research studies and established involvement in product development processes

    Bachelor’s Degree

    Fluency in English (spoken and written)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


    Training skills and proven experience

    Fluency in French (spoken and written)

    Conversant with the regulatory framework for the Microfinance industry in the African countries
