Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, the IS HR Coordinator coordinates the HR Management of IS staff in Johannesburg, Nairobi, Rio and Bangkok. He/She is also responsible for providing a professional, customer focused and effective human resource service for managers and staff in ActionAid’s specified IS hubs, including but not limited to recruitment and selection, employee relations issues, remuneration and benefits management, policy development and compliance. This role provides specific HR advice to IS London and Brussels offices on key AAI HR policies and procedures that have a global remit.

On a professional level, you will have a Graduate or recognized HR qualification coupled with a minimum of 5 years’ Human Resources Management experience at a mid-management level, preferably in a similar capacity in an international and multi-cultural environment. Project Management skills and experience will be advantageous, with proven experience of leading and developing HR strategies, policies, best practice and standards, developing and communicating HR Management Processes on the employee lifecycle. You must have good working knowledge of International HR trends and practices and a good understanding of labour legislation and employment statutory norms with extensive experience in dealing with complex employee relations issues. The ideal candidate will have strong and effective verbal and written communication skills, being able to negotiate and influence with sensitivity and proven experience in leading, supporting and motivating staff and teams. We require extensive experience in providing a broad range of high quality HR policy advice to managers and staff. As part of your experience, you will have managed and undertook high quality, high volume recruitment processes as well as supervising payroll processes.

On a personal level, you have to have strong analytical, strategic thinking and planning skills, with a flexible approach to managing and prioritizing a high workload and multiple tasks in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines. You must be willing to travel internationally. You will have a strong commitment to develop promote and practice AAI’s vision, mission, values and strategy as well as to human rights and socio economic justice with a proven track record in exercising human rights.
