Narrative Description
Reporting to the Regional Vice President, Africa and the Middle East, and working closely with the members of the Regional Leadership Team (RLT), the Vice President, Africa will be responsible for the management of all of IATA's activities in the Africa region with full strategic and financial accountability.

Responsibilities
Act as IATA's General Manager for the region, defining, managing and providing strategic direction, guidance and leadership for IATA's activities and initiatives in the region in accordance with Board and Industry priorities.Be a member of the Regional Leadership Team, Africa and the Middle East, representing the region, and contributing to the development of IATA's overall targets and priorities.Overall accountability for regional budget, including revenue and cost targets, member satisfaction, campaign prioritization and target delivery as well as for all human resource, administrative, IT, marketing, sales and other matters in the region.Oversee the quality of IATA's activities in the region, and ensure global standards are upheld.With the support of the Regional Head of Corporate Services, and through full alignment to established global IATA standards and procedures, the VP will have the direct responsibility for the regional compliance of all the following aspects: legal, fiscal, statutory accounting, payroll, business planning and reporting, internal policies and procedures, IT efficiency, procurement and administrative processes.She/he will also be accountable for the primary regional relationships with external and internal audit organizations in full compliance with IATA established directives.Apply excellent general management skills to recruit, motivate and develop Africa dedciated team members on the Regional Leadership Team, and a strong cohort of Country Managers and staff within the region, while addressing internal issues in an even-handed and decisive manner.Promote employee understanding and alignment with IATA's corporate values, priorities and strategies throughout the region, including the development of a coherent internal communications plan.Promote a one IATA approach for all matters in the region.Build strong relationships with and represent IATA in front of senior representatives of airlines, governments, airports and other key industry stakeholders in the region, ensuring proper account management processes are followed in the region.Support and enable the regional heads of the different business units in their day to day activities, and achievement of key priorities and objectives.Ensure effective communications, collaboration and operations between Head, Region and Country officesMaintain strong media relationships and develop (in close cooperation with IATA's Corporate Communications department) a coherent IATA communications strategy.Monitor and report on aero-political, economic and commercial developments in the region, taking or recommending actions as appropriate that are consistent with IATA's policies and objectives.Ensure, track and report on member satisfaction, and IATA's progress in addressing Asia Pacific airlines' needs and priorities.Ensure effective management of IATA offices in the region, and ensure that the Country Managers deliver their targets and priorities, and address key issues appropriately while adopting the One IATA approach in their dealings with airlines, governments and all other industry stakeholders.Lead the regional implementation of IATA's major global projects and priorities (e.g. StB, NDC, IOSA, ISAGO, etc.).

Qualifications and Skills
Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering or other relevant discipline.A minimum of 15 years of experience in the airline industry with at least 7 years of experience at the senior executive level.Track record of success in high-visibility leadership positions at the international level.Outstanding leadership and management experience in a high-pressure, multicultural and international environment.Excellent networking, team-building and communication skills.Proven ability to lead and motivate large teams and to foster collaboration across functional and cultural lines.Fluency in English is essential, whilst knowledge of other regional languages would be an asset.
