Project Description: IFES will
facilitate the participation of Egyptian election practitioners in a study
visit to the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) in mid to late March
2013. The objective of the study tour is to expose participants to the workings
of an independent election management body as Egypt transitions to independent
election administration. IFES envisages sending ten representatives from
various state organs with various election related responsibilities, including
the Higher Judicial Elections Commission, the Ministry of State for
Administrative Development, the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of
Justice.
Job Responsibilities:
Under the direction and supervision of the
Chief of Party and Deputy Chief of Party, the Study Tour Coordinator will
fulfill the following duties:
• Facilitate coordination between IFES and the
IEC to set up study visit meetings on election operations, election procedures,
the structure and functions of the IEC and the use of Geographic Information
Systems by the IEC;
• Facilitate coordination between IFES and the
IEC to set up site visits, such as to election institutions and other relevant
locations as requested by IFES;
• Prepare all logistics of the study visit,
including hotel reservations, transportation to and from the airport in South
Africa, transportation to and from meeting sites, and booking of meeting venues, as needed;
Qualifications:
• BA in international relations or
related field preferred;
• 2+ years of relevant experience in democracy
and governance work;
• Knowledge of political processes, election
systems, institutions in South
Africa
• Familiarity and experience
working with the IEC and relevant electoral institutions in South Africa;
• Experience in organizing logistical
arrangements;
• Strong communicator, both
verbally and in writing;
• Fluent in written and spoken English, Arabic
preferred;
• High level of attention to details in all
