Job Summary:
Murray & Roberts Projects invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Project Industrial Relations Manager for the Medupi Project reporting to the HR Executive but an Eskom report on an operational level. The purpose of the job is to provide and manage a specialist service in Industrial Relations, including auditing and monitoring compliance of principal contractors on all Industrial Relations matters.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Implements the Industrial Relations strategy:
• Participating in the development of the Industrial Relations strategy.
• Developing a detailed plan for the implementation of the strategy.
• Sensitising all internal stakeholders to the Industrial Relations strategy and how the implementation will affect them.
• Developing policies and procedures to support the implementation of the strategy.
2. Implementation of the Project Labour Agreement by:
• Ensuring that all conditions of the Project Labour Agreement are clearly understood by the relevant stakeholders.
• Monitoring Industrial Relations activities on the site to ensure that all parties are acting consistently within the PLA and related statutory requirements.
• Conducting regular audits of contractors to ensure compliance to PLA.
• Engaging with relevant stakeholders to resolve disputes relating to the PLA.
• Liaising with facilities such as hostels and feeding halls to minimise potential industrial disputes.
• Keeping abreast of IR matters and developments within the industry to assess the potential impact on the Project.
• Ensuring that all Labour Brokers used by Contractors have the necessary approval.
3. Manages the Site Industrial Relations office by:
• Ensuring suitably qualified resources are appointed to perform the required duties and tasks.
• Managing the performance of subordinates.
4. Maintains relationships with external Stakeholders by:
• Participating in monthly forums with neighbouring companies and projects.
• Developing and maintaining positive relationships with labour union officials, local government and community structures.

Key Requirements:
Experience:

• Excellent negotiation skills (a pre requisite) with exposure to arbitrations and Local Community involvement.
• A minimum of 7 years IR and Site Services management experience on large Projects.
• Large Project IR experience on a similar project is essential.
• Must be able to control groups of people.
