Job Summary:
Murray & Roberts Projects invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Project Legal & Compliance Manager for the Medupi Project reporting to the HR Executive but an Eskom report on an operational level. The purpose of the job is:
• To provide and manage a specialist service in Industrial Relations, including auditing and monitoring compliance of principal contractors on all Industrial Relations Matters.
• To provide sound Management of Industrial processes and practices in ensuring a harmonized industrial relations climate in the construction environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide Specialist service in the following IR areas:
• Strike management
• Policy/guide/practices
• Dispute management
• Compliance and Assurance
• Discipline and grievance management
• Strategic planning
• Information management
• Industrial relations training and skills transfer
• Industrial relations auditing
• Conflict resolution
• Consultation and advice
• Research
• Coordination of Contractor Kick off meetings
• Coordination of weekly monthly IR meetings
• Progress meetings
• Risk matrix IR
• Strike handling
2. Operational and effective management of the Industrial Relations Policy and the Project Labour Agreement.
3. The management of Industrial relations processes and practices in ensuring a harmonized industrial relations climate.
4. Maintenance of current policies practices and formulation of practices and guidelines as and when required.
5. Monitoring compliance of the Industrial Relations Policy and Project Labour Agreement.
6. Auditing and monitoring of all Principal Contracts on Industrial Relations matters on an annual basis.
7. Risk analysis (Risk IR Matrix) and proactive interventions
8. Convening and managing all compulsory meetings/forums as per the IR Policy and Project Labour Agreement.
9. Dispute management as per Project Labour Agreement.
10. CDR process – tracking of disputes and decision registers.
11. Facilitating the process with regards to conflict resolution as and when it arises as it pertains to the project.
12. Consultation and advice to the Project with regards to Labour Relations.
13. Research and keeping up with industry amendments.
14. Information management & reporting on all Industrial Relations matters.
15. Facilitate investigations into incidents and coordinate the resolution thereof.
16. Strike/dispute management and coordination of all related activities.
17. Monitor compliance by contractors to recruitment, mobilisation and demobilisation procedures as established in the Industrial Relations Policy and the Project Labour Agreement.
Key Requirements:
Experience:
• A minimum of 7 years IR and Site Services management experience on large Projects
• Experience on a similar project essential.
• Excellent negotiation skills (a pre requisite) with exposure to arbitrations and Local Community involvement.
• Large Project IR experience.
• Must be able to control groups of people.
