Position Purpose:

Responsible for all Technology Infrastructure services relating to Networks and Telecommunications (LAN & WAN) This position will be based in Bellville


Experience & Qualifications:

•At least 8 years experience in an IT related position
•5+ years in Network and telephony infrastructure management.
•Previous Experience within Networks and Telephony environments is a requirement.
•Previous experience in terms of call centre environments will be beneficial.
•Understanding of and expertise in some of the following: Network, infrastructure security, server, telecommunications and data centre management.

The Incumbent will be responsible for:
Strategic Alignment
•Engage with MMI business units to ensure alignment of plans and performance within Network and Telecommunications
•Provide strategic direction by analysing industry trends and future technology strategies to enable MMI business
•Provide operational direction for all areas within the Networks and Telecommunications in line with IT Services business objectives.
•Maintain ITS culture, values and reputation with clients, suppliers, partners and regulatory / official bodies.
•Align performance objectives for all areas within Network and Telecommunications to IT Services strategy

Functional
•Co-ordinate and prioritize the development of Network and Telecommunications services to meet business and ITS objectives
•Ensure that Networks and Telecommunications are consistent with IT Architecture
•Establish standards, policies and procedures that govern the functions within the department
•Effectively utilize all resources
•Delivery of Network and Telecommunications Services in line with SLAs
•Manage provider contracts and services to ensure optimal performance and efficiencies
•Serve on project boards and be project owner for projects relevant to Networks and Telecommunications
•Monitor the performance of the areas within Networks and Telecommunications to ensure
the achievement of business objectives
•Ensure Life Cycle Management for all products and services implemented and provided by this department
•Ultimate point of escalation regarding any Network and Telecommunications operational issues that negatively affects business (Service management)
•Ensure continuous performance improvement throughout the Network and Telecommunications area through innovation and improved work efficiencies.

Staff Management
•The identification of required staffing levels, EE targets and skills to deliver operational objectives
•Recruit, select and develop and performance manage team members
•The measurement and maintenance of staff performance in the area
•The management and development of staff to achieve IT services objectives in line with Investors in People principles, effective succession planning and talent retention
•Maintain and develop ITS culture, values and reputation with all staff to ensure motivation and engagement.

Financial
•Set budgets in line with ITS objectives
•Monitor, evaluate and report on individual areas budgets in line with IT services objectives
•Establish recoveries and ensure recoveries against budget
•Identify and manage service components and their relative costs

Competencies Required:
•Good industry knowledge of data and technology services
•Sound knowledge of both IT and business processes
•Experience in running IT projects
•Up to date with current IT trends to proactively provide relevant business information, support and guidance and ensure that all corporate governance needs are met.
•Knowledge of MMI business or related industry would be an advantage.

•Tried and tested conflict resolution skills
•Strong operational focus and the ability to work in a pressurised operational department
